WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE OUT or TO BE AN ALLY?
I feel it is important to be “out” to help break down some of the stereotypes portrayed through the media that have plagued the LGBT community. By being able to relate with people and have them understand I am no different from them can help bridge the gap.

WHY ARE YOU “PROUD”?  WHAT ARE YOU MOST “PROUD” OF?
I am most proud of the accomplishments I have made this far in my life.  Having the opportunity to be in graduate school surrounded by some wonderful friends is great.  I am also proud of my parents for doing what they can to better understand my sexual orientation.

WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF COMING OUT?
Having to come out to my parents was one of the most difficult challenges for me.  It took them some time to adjust to the news, but they are slowly becoming more accepting. 

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS WHO COME OUT?
The coming out process is different for everyone.  Not everyone moves quickly through the process and I would encourage others to develop a good support system and to come out when they are ready.

THOUGHTS FOR NON-LGBT PEOPLE ABOUT LGBT PEOPLE AND CONCERNS:
I would encourage everyone to try to get to know people in the LGBT community, go to some of the events planned and try to learn something new.
