Educational Research and Evaluation
Graduate Programs
The graduates of the Ohio University College of Education with Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Educational Research and Evaluation (EDRE) will be agents of positive outcomes for diverse individuals, groups, schools, organizations, and societies. Graduates will be:
- Informed, responsible practitioners
Graduates of EDRE are informed, responsible practitioners who
(a) are active, lifelong learners who stay informed with the latest developments in their field,
(b) have a research orientation, both as consumers and producers of research, and
(c) can evaluate circumstances and determine appropriate courses of action based on credible evidence.
- Committed to diversity
Graduates of EDRE are professionals who
(a) are committed to diversity and respond to issues of social justice both within their societies and globally,
(b) value cultural, intellectual, and philosophical diversity, and
(c) recognize research opportunities regarding issues of social justice.
- Ethical, reflective decision-makers and problem-solvers
Graduates of EDRE are ethical and reflective decision-makers and problem-solvers who
(a) think creatively and critically,
(b) understand and support the ethics of research, and
(c) model ethical practice, particularly as it applies to research.
- Principled, expert leaders
Graduates of EDRE are principled, expert leaders who
(a) seek opportunities for leadership and service within their organizations, whether as faculty or in positions within organizations and
(b) promote a research orientation within their organization.
- Committed to their professional identity and growth
Graduates of EDRE are professionals who
(a) are committed to their professional identity and growth,
(b) participate as active professionals in service to their field, and
(c) participate with a voice in the scholarly conversation of the field.
- Proficient and ethical users of technology
Graduates of EDRE are proficient and ethical users of technology who
(a) remain current with new and updated software tools for research and statistics and
(b) help others learn to use such tools.
- Competent and capable in research and assessment
Graduates of EDRE can apply their methodological and analytical skills to research in many educational and social situations.
