Applied Business Knowledge Objectives

Graduates will acquire knowledge of current business practices and theory and will apply basic business concepts to contemporary business issues.

  • Interpreting, recording, summarizing, reporting and analyzing the financial transactions of a company.
  • Using accounting information for business decision making.
  • Creating value through the integrated production and distribution of goods and services.
  • Understanding the strategic value of information and the process of managing information technology projects.
  • Identify potential customers/industrial buyers, determine their needs, and manipulate the elements of marketing strategy (price, product, place and promotion) to profitably fulfill those needs.
  • Evaluating the varied roles and activities of managers in leading organizations to accomplishing objectives.
  • Understanding the process of creating and interpreting external financial reports.

Environmental Context Objectives

Graduates will evaluate the domestic and global dimensions of organizations (legal/ethical, economic, social, political, and multicultural) and will analyze the interactions between the organization and its environmental context.

  • Graduates will be able to recognize situations in the workplace that require consultation with legal counsel to improve compliance with law, mitigate the impact of personal or corporate wrongdoing, and encourage ethical practice in business.
  • Graduates will be able to describe the importance of diversity in organizations and society and how organizations can encourage a value for diversity among its employees.
  • Graduates will gain an understanding of at least one other culture and demonstrate the ability to analyze the impact of cultural differences on operating effectively in that culture.
