Global Studies

The Global Studies Learning Community brings together all first-year students in the five Global Studies majors to take a set of courses required for the program including, a language of your choice, International Relations, Environmental Geography and the 1 credit UC 1900 Learning Community course. This learning community will help students develop global competency, learn about the diversity of academic and cultural resources on the Ohio University campus, help students engage academically and foster lasting friendships.

As a LC member, you are guaranteed registration in courses that are required for your degree. And that's just one of the many LC benefits. LC course enrollment is for fall semester only. With assistance from your academic adviser, you will select a new set of courses for winter and spring semesters.

Because enrollment is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, interested students should complete the application process as soon as possible. During Orientation in July and August, your Orientation academic adviser will review your LC assignment with you and assist you in selecting one to two additional courses.

Participation Requirements

The only requirement for you to be in the Global Studies LC is that you be admitted to Ohio University as an incoming freshman and be interested in pursuing a one of the global studies majors – whether your first term or possibly in the future.
