You will live with other Fine Arts freshmen and upperclassmen majoring in art, dance, music and theater who understand that practice, rehearsal, and/or studio time is necessary for your success. You will be able to share ideas for arts projects, explore interdisciplinary avenues of expression and support each other as you pursue similar goals.
Participation Requirements
The only requirement for you to be in the Fine Arts RLC is that you be admitted to Ohio University as an incoming freshman and be accepted in the College of Fine Arts as an art, dance, music or theater major. There are no additional costs associated with being a part of this learning community. What a great way to get involved early on and jump-start your college career!
Learning Community Options
There are three options to choose from in the “Experience the Arts” program.
Option A allows you to participate in two courses taken with approximately 20 other Fine Arts students living in Lincoln. You will all take the following classes together which will give you “built-in” study groups and a core set of friends from the start of the quarter:
- English 151 (5 hours credit) Fulfills your Tier I General Education Freshman English requirement
- Far 190 Experience the Arts (1 hour credit) Fine Arts experiential seminar course which provides you with an overview of the arts offered on campus through attendance at exhibitions and performances, interactions with Fine Arts faculty and guest artists along with active, hands-on participation in art, dance, music and theater projects.
Option B allows you to participate in the one-hour Fine Arts seminar course (Far 190 listed in Option A) together with approximately 20 other Fine Arts students living in Lincoln Hall. There is no English 151 class associated with this option.
Option C allows you the opportunity to live in Lincoln Hall to take advantage of the “Fine Arts-friendly” facilities. This option does not include any academic courses as listed in Option A or B above.
