September 12, 2013 : College Fair at Ohio University Lancaster

Lancaster – The gym in Ohio University Lancaster's Brasee Hall will soon be filled with high school students wanting to learn more about their college options. The Lancaster City/Fairfield County College Fair will be held September 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.

"High school students can get a lot of information," said Nate Thomas, Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington admissions representative. "It's an opportunity to talk to someone face-to-face."

Representatives from nearly 100 colleges, universities and technical schools will be available to talk to potential students. Schools from all over the state of Ohio will be present, as well as schools from across the U.S.

It is great way for students to explore all the options that are open to them. Thomas said even though the admissions representatives want you to come to their school, the night is all about what is best for the student. The event gives the students a chance to seek information, but it's not a place where they will start the application process.

"Students do not start filling out applications at this event," said Thomas. "This is a family decision. Financially, academically, there are things to answer before you make that final decision. So, it's a process. It's not just a one night affair."

Thomas will be at the fair at the Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington table. He will have information to hand out about the campus and hopes that after the fair students will return to campus to learn more.

"You tell a potential student who you are and what you have to offer and then hopefully bring them back to your campus to see it for themselves," said Thomas.
