Lancaster – The third floor of Ohio University Lancaster's Brasee Hall is going to look different when students return for Fall Semester classes. That is because new carpet is being put down and all the walls have been repainted.
'We needed to replace the carpeting because it's pulling away from the backing," said OUL Interim Physical Plant Director Mark Bateson. "That is causing ripples in the carpet which is a tripping hazard, and it looks bad."
The walls were painted in early May. The carpet replacement started on Friday, May 31. The carpet that is being replaced was originally put down in 1995.
"It's time to update," said Bateson."The third floor is getting a new, modern look with warmer colors."
The third floor is where the OUL Information Office and the Student Services Offices are located. The Community and Corporate Learning Office and some faculty offices are also located on the floor.
As other renovations occur in the future to the classroom portion of Brasee Hall, a similar color palette will be used. A similar process will also occur for Herrold Hall.
"The project should take about two weeks from start to finish," said Bateson. "We have scheduled different offices on different days. All offices and functions will remain open and ready to help students during the process."
