Lancaster – The interim director of the Ohio University Lancaster Community and Corporate Learning Office can't wipe the grin off of his face after getting an award at the Lancaster-Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce Trade Show and Awards Dinner Saturday night.
Ron Cullums got the Chairman's award. The award is given out yearly to mark the recipient's service to the organization. The Chairman's award was the last award given out at the dinner.
"I had no idea," said Cullums. "It was a complete surprise. I had nothing prepped to say."
Cullums has served on many chamber committees for the last 11 years. He said it's an honor to be recognized for his work in the community.
"It's nice to be given an award for a lot of small accomplishments, rather than one large one," said Cullums. "I'm just a steady, persistent force in the chamber."
"Ron is very dedicated to the business community in this area through his work with the chamber and his work in the Community and Corporate Learning Office at Ohio University Lancaster," said Lancaster Campus Dean Jim Smith. "We're very proud of Ron for his hard work. It is a well-deserved recognition."
The Community and Corporate Learning Office offers a wide variety of training, programs, courses and services to local businesses and community members.Activities are provided at the Lancaster Campus and off-campus locations, including places of work.University credit programs, business / industrial training, distance education, and noncredit classes are offered in several formats.
"I'm still grinning from ear-to-ear," said Cullums."I really can't get the smile off of my face."
