Lancaster – The work of Ohio University Lancaster student Thomas R. Ansel is on display in the Raymond S. Wilkes Gallery for the Visual Arts. Ansel’s senior art show is one of five different shows that will be on display in the gallery over the summer months.
“For my senior show, I tried to incorporate work from all the different classes I have taken while getting my degree,” said Ansel. “I have taken classes at OUL, Ohio University Chillicothe and Ohio University Zanesville.”
Ansel is 43 years old and lives in Baltimore. He will earn his bachelor’s degree this summer. Ansel won the “Best of Show” honors at the student shows on both the Chillicothe and Lancaster campuses this academic year. Ansel’s show contains abstract work as well as portraits. He said he can’t pick a favorite piece in the show.
“It’s like picking your favorite child,” said Ansel.
While at OUL, Ansel has worked on sets for the OUL Theatre
. He said the knowledge he has gained from art instructors on campus like Trisha Clifford Sprouse and Rachel Clark is invaluable.
Ansel’s show will be on display at OUL until June 14. The art gallery is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
