Peer Advisor for International Student
Orientation Application

International Student and Faculty Services is accepting applications for Peer Advisors for International Student Orientation. Peer Advisors are a resource for incoming international students. Peer Advisors assist in introducing new international students to Ohio University, the Athens community, and life in the United States by developing and presenting educational information sessions for the Orientation Program. Additionally, Peer Advisors assist ISFS staff during Immigration Registration and are responsible for planning and conducting social activities during each Orientation Program.

The Charles J. Ping International Student Leadership Award Application

International Student and Faculty Services created this award in 2010 to recognize outstanding leadership by an international student enrolled in Ohio University. This award is named for President Emeritus Charles J. Ping, president of Ohio University from 1975-1994, to honor his support for international education and exchange. President Emeritus Ping's leadership resulted in the expansion of international education at Ohio University.

General criteria for the award:

  • Successful completion of at least one semester at Ohio University
  • Evidence of meaningful leadership in the university and/or Athens community
  • Good standing with the university judicial system at the time of application
  • Good academic standing with the university at the time of application
  • Valid F1 or J1 nonimmigrant student status

Application process:

Members of the Ohio University community are encouraged to nominate students for this award. Eligible students may also nominate themselves. A completed application consists of a completed form, a statement by the nominator of no more than 1000 words that answers the prompt on the form, and two letters of support. No more than one letter of support can be written by a current OHIO student. All materials, including the letters of support, must be submitted together by Wednesday, February 18 2015, by 5:00 pm. You can submit the materials to the International Student and Faculty Services office in the Walter International Education Center at 15 Park Place in Athens or you can email your application materials to isfs@ohio.edu.
