OU I/O Psych News

Recently, SIOP took an interest in one of our studies generated in the Griffeth Lab. Below is a brief description of the project and a link the SIOP article that over viewed the project.

We're all familiar with work place absenteeism due to illness and transportation issues caused by poor weather.  Believe it or not, a recent study by Fried, Robinson, Griffeth and Hom (2009) revealed that employees are also more likely to miss work when skies are clear and sunny and the weather is warm than under more moderate weather conditions.  The authors of the study speculated that higher absenteeism during optimal weather may be due to the increased availability of leisure pursuits (hunting, gardening, sporting activities, etc.).

New I/O Labs

Since the completion of the Porter Hall addition, both Dr. Popovich and Dr. Griffeth have moved into their new labs. With this additional space, we are able to conduct more research meetings and more experiments. Additionally, Dr. Griffeth has just furnished his lab with new computers.
