Mission

The mission of the Automatic Identification Lab is to promote the use, understanding and acceptance of automatic identification (RFID, bar codes, smart cards, biometrics, magnetic stripe, etc.) through funded research and educational outreach efforts.

Vision

The vision of the Automatic Identification Lab is to be the premier educationally-based, unbiased, applied research and education institute in the United States for AutoID related topics. As new products are developed, standards are created and technologies are incorporated, the Lab will be involved in the testing, validation and education phases.

Goals

  • Develop alliances with the various equipment and software vendors so that the Lab will readily have access to any and all equipment needed.

  • Educate people about automatic identification through workshops, technical institutes and conference lectures.

  • Enable the AIDCTI to become a revenue stream for the Lab.

  • Develop research opportunities so that the Lab provides revenue to the College and associated faculty.
