UC 203W - Credit for Work Experience: Portfolio Development

Eng 151 or 152 or 153 and permission from the Experiential Learning Program. |

Course
Overview: This course provides a means by which selected students may design a portfolio of their experiences and the learning gained from them in a systematic and documented way. The portfolio thus created may then be submitted to faculty of Ohio University for assessment and possible award of credit for college courses. The lessons of this course are designed to assist the student in the process of analyzing and recording goals, the experiences gained in employment, community activities, and hobbies, and the learning gained from those experiences, and presenting them in an orderly sequence.

communicate and exchange materials through e-mail or the course Web site. |

| Technical Requirements: The following operating systems and browsers are fully tested and supported by Blackboard:
∙ Windows 2000 running Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 1.0.x
∙ Windows XP running Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 1.0.x
∙ Macintosh OS 10.3 running Internet Explorer 5.2 or Safari 1.2
Other combinations of operating systems and browsers may be compatible with Blackboard 6.3. However, they have not been fully tested so you may experience problems. |

| Types
of Writing Assignments: Each lesson will guide you through the steps of the creating your portfolio, with the sixth (and final) lesson being your completed portfolio. |

There are no exams for this course. |

Grading
Criteria: No grades are given for the lesson assignments.
Letter grades are ordinarily assigned at the completion of this course. Students who wish the grade of "CR" (credit) instead must request it at the time of enrolling for the course.
Final evaluation in this course will take into account the student's assignments, articulation and documentation of prior learning in the portfolio, and the organization of the components into a comprehensive, well-written document.
Successful completion of the course does not guarantee award of credit in any course for which the student may seek assessment; only approved Ohio University faculty evaluators can make that judgment.
