I. PREREQUISITES
Business Law 255 or equivalent.

II. COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course covers the legal aspects of commercial paper, consumer credit, and bankruptcy. The examination covers the following textbook topics:

  Commercial Paper Chapter 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30
  Secured Transactions and Suretyship Chapter 38
  Bankruptcy Chapter 39
  Accountants Legal Liability Chapter 45
  Introduction to Property, Property Insurance, Bailments and Documents of Title Chapter 48
  Real Property Chapters 49 and 50
  Trusts and Decedents' Estates Chapter 51

IV. NATURE OF THE EXAMINATION
You will have three hours to complete the examination. All materials you will need will be provided; you are not permitted to use books, notes, or supplementary aids. The examination will consist of both objective and essay questions.

The ten essay questions are of two types—one type requires you to solve a problem by giving the legal reasons for a decision and recognizing the legal issues involved; the other type requires you to discuss major concepts presented in the reading material. The essay section is worth 50 points.

The objective section is worth 160 points and contains multiple-choice, true/false, and matching questions. The questions emphasize commercial paper, but questions also cover the remainder of the course as well.

V. GRADING CRITERIA
Your total points on the examination will be converted to a percent. The final grade will be assigned on the following scale:

90 - 92 %
87 - 89 %
83 - 86 %
80 - 82 %
77 - 79
