Attention Deficit Disorder / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD)
If you have already had a professional evaluation and been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder:
- You can continue to work with your personal physician at home to receive continuing prescription for your medicine, or
- You can have your prescriptions written by a Student Health Service physician AFTER you have provided:
- A copy of the formal evaluation by a psychologist, psychiatrist or licensed professional clinical counselor dated within the last three (3) years AND
- A copy of the latest progress note from your doctor indicating the dosage of medication you are currently prescribed.
If you have not been evaluated and diagnosed with ADD by a physician, we can not prescribe medications for ADD. If you wish to be evaluated for ADD, you may call the Ohio University Psychology and Social Work Clinic at 593-0902 to arrange an appointment.
The Student Health Service pharmacy does not currently dispense controlled substances for ADD, such as Ritalin and Adderall. The pharmacy does carry Strattera. If you have a prescription for Ritalin or Adderall, it can be filled at a local pharmacy, listed on the SHS Pharmacy page.
