Pharmacy
The Student Health Service (SHS) pharmacy provides a variety of prescription and over the counter medications. You must be currently enrolled and present a photo ID to obtain services. There is a charge for medications obtained in the pharmacy. The charge is placed on your account and payment can be made in person at the Bursar’s office in Chubb Hall, by your Ohio University online account, or by mail. Each student receives two itemized receipts for each medication.

Pharmacy FAQ
Who is eligible to use the pharmacy?
Any student registered for the current session. You may be asked to present a photo ID at the time of service.
What prescription medications are available at the SHS pharmacy?
The pharmacy stocks over 400 prescriptions and OTC medications that are commonly used.
Do you accept prescriptions from outside practitioners?
We accept prescriptions from any physician or nurse practitioner licensed in the United States. Your health care provider can:
- give you a written prescription
- phone a prescription in to 740-593-4738
- fax a prescription to 740-597-1834
How do I pay for my prescriptions?
The charge is placed on your student account and payment can be made in person at the cashier's office in Chubb Hall, mailed to Chubb Hall or by accessing your online account.
Do you accept Third Party Insurance Cards for prescriptions?
We are NOT able to process prescription insurance cards at this time. We will give you two itemized receipts that you may submit to your insurance. Sometimes our prescription prices are lower than your co-pays. Ask the pharmacist about the price of your prescription.

What if I need more medication and my prescription has no refills?
You must contact your prescriber and request that they contact us and authorize more refills. Or you may choose to see a prescriber at our clinic.
Are my pharmacy records confidential?
Yes. We do not release any information regarding your pharmacy records to any person or agency without your permission.
Can someone else pick up my medication?
Another person can pick up your medication only if you send a written permission note signed by you with that person authorizing him/her to pick up your prescription. Also, send your student ID card with that person.
Are there certain days or times of the day that are not as busy at the SHS Pharmacy?
Mondays and Friday afternoons are by far the busiest time for the SHS pharmacy. The pharmacy is least busy during the mornings, from 8 - 10 a.m.
