Waiving Medical Insurance
If you do not wish to purchase the policy offered by Ohio University, you can decline it by providing information which documents that the student has comparable coverage. To avoid paying for the policy offered by Ohio University, you must decline the coverage by the posted deadline. For spring quarter 2008-09, the deadline is May 4, 2009. You can decline the offer by any one of four ways:
- Complete and return the waiver that is at the bottom of your eBill statement at www.ohio.edu/bursar.
- Submit the waiver information electronically with your eCheck payment from the eBill site listed above.
- Send an email with the student's name, student ID number, name of insurance company, and policy number to bursar@ohio.edu.
- Complete a waiver form at the Cashier's Office, Chubb Hall 010.
International students cannot waive the major medical insurance offered by the University unless they are being sponsored by their home country. Only the Office of International Student & Faculty Services can grant permission to waive the insurance.
