The Hudson Health Center is in the process of contracting with the insurance companies that represent our student body so that our medical staff will become “in-network” providers.
What does this mean to you?
When the Hudson Health Center is an “in-network” provider, it means there is a contract between the insurance companies and the clinic. The insurance companies will pay for the visit to the health center unless the services rendered are not part of the student benefit plan. Those students who have insurance through one of these contractual arrangements with the Health Center will pay for the co-pay and their insurance company will be billed for the balance of the charges.
The Hudson Health Center is in-network with the following insurance companies:
In-network as of:
Anthem September 2, 2008
Blue Cross & Blue Shield September 2, 2008
Medical Mutual November 2008 (most providers)
PHCS/Multi Plan January 2009 (most providers)
Currently, The Hudson Health Center is working toward a contract with the following insurance companies:
Contract expected date:
Aetna April 2009
Cigna pending
Humana June 2009
United Health Care pending
Hudson Health Center will continue to identify other plans to add to the list.
In addition, some insurance companies prefer to use the physician/provider networks of bigger insurance companies, i.e., use the Blue Cross network or PHCS/Multi Plan. A Student will know if their insurance company uses one of these networks (commonly referred to as “rental networks”) because a notice will be on the back of the students’ insurance ID card stating that the insurance company uses PHCS for their provider network or Blue Cross or Medical Mutual, etc. If the student has this notice, these plans will be considered “in-network”.
