The freeze of the posting process of Classified positions issued on May 1, 2006 for the Athens Campus will be lifted effective immediately. The employment process was frozen due to the budget realignment process and the potential impact on classified positions and subsequent displacement or 'bumping' of staff across the university. While the new budget does not go into effect until July 1, the impact on positions and people is currently known.
Planning units and departments continue to use a variety of means, such as abolishing positions vacated by the Early Retirement Incentive Plan, to address their targeted budget reductions. A minimal amount of displacement is occurring on the Athens campus and University Human Resources is currently working with these individuals.
The job audit/ evaluation process for current classified positions which was suspended April 1, 2006 will resume as well.
