Ohio University has partnered with Lee Hecht Harrison to provide you with outplacement assistance at the Career Center. The objective of the Outplacement Services Program is to provide you with the information, advice, and resources that will streamline your job search.
Lee Hecht Harrison
Established in 1974, Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH) is a global career transition firm with over 240 offices worldwide. Lee Hecht Harrison's consultants have extensive backgrounds in corporate and small business, job search, and career assessment.
Center Manager - Tom Quickel
- Tom will have scheduled individual one-on-one consulting sessions.
- He is a Senior Consultant for LHH with over 14 years of experience in career transition. His background also includes 13 years of management experience with the Procter & Gamble Company and five years in the U.S. Marine Corps, obtaining the rank of Captain. He holds a B.S. in Secondary Education (Chemistry) from the Pennsylvania State University.
- Tom has managed eight additional Career Centers and worked as a Senior Consultant at 12 others. He has assisted displaced employees in banking, finance, consumer products, manufacturing, and retail sales at companies such as GE, Sara Lee, DuPont, Procter & Gamble, Lockheed Martin, Fidelity Investments, Aetna, Johnson & Johnson, and Humana.
Location and Hours of Operation
- The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- The Center is scheduled to remain in operation through May 1, 2009.

Training sessions: Milestones Career Transition Seminar
A 2-day seminar that will prepare you to conduct an effective job search:
- Assess skills and accomplishments.
- Set career objectives.
- Develop effective resume.
- Initiate focused job search strategies.
- Prepare for interviews.
- Negotiate compensation package.
Individual Consulting
Scheduled, confidential appointments, working one-on-one with a Career Consultant:
- Refine and finalize your resume.
- Select target companies.
- Help you develop cover letters and other search correspondence.
- Conduct practice interview.
- Develop negotiating strategies for your job offers.
Job Sourcing
- Uncover and publish job leads from employers and recruiters.
- Contact local companies to encourage them to consider hiring transitioning employees.
Career Resource Network (CRN)
After attending the Milestones Seminar, you will have one month's use of Lee Hecht Harrison's password-protected Internet site:
- Job leads from employers and recruiters - LeadLink.
- Post resume on proprietary database - Resume Reserve.
- Research using several subscription databases.
- Resources for starting a business.
- Teleconference training and e-courses on a variety of job search subjects.
- E-Learning on free SkillSoft online computer and skill-based courses.
Administrative support
Produce your professional resume.
Workstations
Equipped with personal computers, including Internet access and Word software, and connected to laser printers.
