Open Enrollment is the one time each year you can enroll or make changes in your healthcare benefits.  Otherwise, changes may only be made if a family status change has occurred. This year everyone MUST ACCESS the online system for 2011 coverage. Those with a spouse/domestic partner and/or dependent children will be asked to answer questions relating to their eligibility. You may also review your current coverage and make appropriate changes if necessary.

It’s also time to enroll or re-enroll in the Flexible Spending Account Programwhich must be done annually at www.wageworks.com.  

This is your opportunity to evaluate the benefit needs for you and your family. Please review the following information thoroughly and make your choices for the coming year by May 27, 2011

Information Regarding 2011 Benefits

 

Click the "My Benefits" button to login to the Online Benefits enrollment system. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the enrollment process.

All employees must access the online system even if they wish to keep to same coverage. The system will be available until May 27, 2011. You may make changes online during this period even if you have already saved previous updates.

Rates As previouly announced 2011-2012 rates have increased.
Dependent Eligibility

Effective July 1, 2011 for Ohio University employees: Federal Health Care Reform allows parents to cover their children up to age 26 regardless of financial dependence, student or marital status. The coverage for these children will fall within your regular health care premium (Medical & Prescription only, Dental & Vision coverages limited to age 23).

Ohio legislation implemented on July 1, 2010 offers parents the opportunity to purchase healthcare coverage for eligible children between the ages 26 and 28, for an additional premium
if the adult child is:

  • a natural child, stepchild or adopted child of the employee,
  • a resident of the state of Ohio OR a full-time student at an accredited public or private institution of higher education,
  • unmarried
  • if employed, not offered health insurance by their employer,
  • and not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare

f you wish to cover an adult child, simply list them in the dependents section of the online system. An additional premium is required, click the Dependent Eligibility link to the left to learn more.

Life Insurance Options pdf

Coverage is available in $10,000 increments up to $500,000. An Evidence of Insurability form may be required to purchase new supplemental life insurance or increase an employee's current level of supplemental life insurance.

  • An employee who currently has any level of supplemental life insurance can increase their benefit by $20,000 without completing an evidence of insurability form.
  • An employee increasing their coverage by more than $20,000 will be enrolled in the additional $20,000 until the Evidence of Insurability form is received and approved by our life insurance carrier.
  • Should you enroll or increase your Supplemental Life by more than $20,000 an Evidence of Insurability form will be mailed to you from our carrier, Minnesota Life.

You may also purchase Dependent Life Insurance:

  • A - $10,000/Spouse & $5,000/child
  • B - $5,000/Spouse & $2,000/child
  • C - $20,000/Spouse & $10,000/child
