Ohio University is subject to the Ohio Public Records Law, which requires public offices to make their records available for inspection and copying upon request.  We receive many requests to disclose university records and we have an internal process to review these requests to determine which records must be released.  It is not uncommon for the records requested to include employee information such as employee name, salary, title, and contact information.  We also occasionally receive requests for copies of employees' personnel files. Most of this information must be disclosed under the Public Records Law.  Please be assured that to the extent possible we will try to protect the privacy of our employees and will remove information such as social security numbers from personnel records that must be released.  Please contact Legal Affairs at 740-593-2626 with any questions.
