Ohio University Celebrates Black History Month

February is Black History Month and Ohio University is hosting a wide variety of programs dedicated to the Past, Present and Future of the African and African American Community. Featured speakers and programs include:
  • Bakari Kitwana
    Hip-Hop activist and expert on black youth culture. He has lectured extensively on rap music and black youth culture, and his work has appeared in the Village Voice, The Source, and The Progressive. 

  • Bob Marley Tribute, featuring “Nuhu”

  • Lee Evans
    Two-time Olympic gold medalist who set a world record in the 400-meters at the 1968 games.

Many other Black History Month Events are planned including, among others,
NSBE Taste of Culture,
Paul Lawrence Dunbar Roundtable Discussion,
The Changing Role of African Americans in Communications and Women, Gender & Sport in Africa.
