You can lower your risk for heart disease! It's easier than you think.
Start with five ways to improve your health:
1. Follow a heart healthy diet with lean protein, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low fat milk.
2. Maintain a healthy weight – cut back on foods high in fats and added sugars.
3. Increase exercise – try for at least two hours and 30 minutes of aerobic activity each week.
4. Quit smoking.
5. Keep blood pressure and blood sugar levels in control by managing weight, choosing foods and drinks with little or no added sugars, reducing salt, and following your doctor's treatment plan.
If it helps, focus on improving one area at a time. Remember, you can do it!
