ERIP Impact on Layoffs
The university has received several calls recently asking whether each position vacated by a person who has elected to participate in the ERIP will result in one less layoff at the university. The answer depends on a multitude of factors and cannot be viewed as a one-for-one ratio, although it will result in fewer layoffs.
The budget situation at Ohio University remains extremely fluid, but the university has worked diligently to minimize the impact on affected employees with a variety of resources to help them find new employment. Officials have also instituted efficiency measures across the university to ensure that we are being fiscally prudent with the state and tuition funds that we receive.
