Scholarly Interests 

Dr. Gene Ammarell's areas of research interest include cultural anthropology, ethnography, cognitive anthropology, political ecology, social change and development, ethnographic field methods, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and Bugis.


Selected Publications

Dr. Ammarell's publications include "Just Below the Surface: Environmental Destruction and Loss of Livelihood on an Indonesian Atoll" (2011), Navigasi Bugis (2009) and the documentary film Sharing Paradise (2008).
