The priority date of application for the Honors Tutorial College is December 1. Our admissions process has four steps and includes a mandatory on-campus interview. Note: All HTC applicants are automatically considered for admission into the corresponding non-honors major at Ohio University.
Application and HTC Supplement. Honors Tutorial College applicants must complete both the standard Ohio University application form and the Honors Tutorial College application supplement, which contains three essay questions. The application and supplement are available online. You may apply to up to three HTC programs of study.
Transcripts and Test Scores. Applicants also must submit an official high school transcript and standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). Your standardized test scores may be submitted either on your official high school transcript or by the College Board.

Complete applications received by December 1 will be reviewed by HTC to determine whether the application will be forwarded to the Director(s) of Studies (faculty members responsible for administering each program of study) for further review. The Director of Studies for each program will select candidates for required on-campus interviews. Interview invitations will be mailed in late December. Applicants who do not receive an invitation to interview for an HTC program automatically will be reviewed for admission to the appropriate college.
Because of the nature of a tutorial-education, an on-campus interview with Director(s) of Studies is required. There will be two interview days: January 17 and 24, 2015. Applicants will be assigned an interview date. Applicants interviewing in music or performance theater will audition on their interview day. For more information, visit our Interview Day page.
After interviews are completed, offers of admission will be sent to selected applicants by mid-February. Interviewees who are not offered admission to an HTC program will be reviewed for admission to the appropriate college. Students are not usually considered for transfer into the Honors Tutorial College beyond the first semester of their sophomore year. In most of our programs of study, transfer applicants should apply by our December 1 priority date. If accepted, December applicants enter the College in January. In some of our programs, freshman may apply in April. If accepted, April applicants enter the College in August.
