Portfolio & Thesis Requirements

One of the hallmarks of an Honors Tutorial College education is the honors thesis requirement. To graduate from the college, seniors must complete a thesis project within their academic discipline. Along the way, students are required to participate in academic progress meetings — one at the beginning of their sophomore year and the other at the beginning of their senior year — to verify their progress and discuss their personal and academic goals and achievements.

Sophomore and Senior Portfolio Guidelines

Portfolio reviews are a way to make sure that students are on track in terms of the completion of their degree and the acquisition of strong analytical and writing skills. These reviews also provide an opportunity to help students locate useful resources, identify opportunities on campus and off, and refine career goals.

Senior Thesis or Professional Project

Students' theses must make a creative and insightful contribution to significant issues that are of concern in the discipline or disciplines in which they are grounded. Students typically begin planning the thesis during junior year, and spend most of senior year researching and writing.
