Activating
Your Oak E-Mail
Each
Ohio student has bee assigned an Ohio University e-mail address (Oak account)
at the time of initial registration. You will need to activate the
account if you wish to use it. It can be a valuable source of information
about registration and checking your grades, as well as other activities
which may be of interest and which may affect you.
Follow
these steps to activate your Oak E-mail account:
-
First,
find these four items on your most recent DARS Report:
-
Your
Oak E-mail account name: The combination of letters and numbers,
under your permanent address in Column 1 in your DARS report.
-
Your
OU student number: (SSN: 777-XX-XXXX)
-
Your
RAC: These are the four digits on the first line under Column 1 on
page 1 of your DARS: (RAC: XXXX)
-
Your
Personal identification number (PID): at the top left corner of page
1 of your DARS report: (P000XXXXXX)
-
Then go
to http://www.cns.ohiou.edu/email/activate.html
-
Type in
your SSN and RAC to activate your oak account. Please remember that
you only need to activate your Oak account once. Don't do it
again. If you activate your email account more than once (even after
2 or 3 years) your Oak account will be stopped automatically for security
reasons.
Now
you are ready to use WEBMAIL!
-
Go to
Webmail
and enter your Oak E-mail account name on the first line, your RAC
on the second line, and then click on "Change Password". Enter your
OAK E-mail account name again on the first line and enter a new password
that you decide. Your password should be a combination of letters
and numbers (6 digits with 2 letters and 4 numbers) that only you know.
The page will ask you to enter your password again, just to make sure (you
may want to write your password down somewhere, so you don’t forget it).
Bookmark
the WebMail log-in page
address on your computer for easy access.
If
you have any problems using WEBMAIL, send email from your personal
account to OU Help Desk.
Include your SSN, PID, RAC and Oak account email name. Describe your problem
and ask them to re-set your oak account.
