H1N1 Recommendation Oct. 1, 2009
Message delivered via e-mail to all faculty on Oct. 1, 2009.
With a confirmed case of H1N1 on the Athens campus there may be increased concern among students and faculty about class attendance. I would recommend that faculty do not send emails to students or make announcements in class based on communications from students who indicate that they have been diagnosed with H1N1. The best course of action is to remind students of the necessity of maintaining recommended hygiene practices. Please continue to deal with students who contact you about feeling ill on a case by case basis. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Associate Dean Patti McSteen in the Office of Student Affairs (firstname.lastname@example.org, 597-2916) or Ann Fidler (email@example.com, 593-2600) in my office.
If a student comes to class who is visibly ill with flu-like symptoms, it is appropriate for you to request that student to leave and to seek medical attention. If problems arise as a result of your request, please contact the Dean of Students Office (593-1800) and ask for their assistance.
