Expenses for International Graduate Students
To apply for a student visa, you must obtain an I-20 or DS-2019 form from Ohio University. This form is issued after you submit the Financial Support Form document, which states that you have the minimum required financial support to cover your estimated school and living expenses for one academic year. This includes tuition, general and technical fees, books, and other expenses for the academic term (September through June).
Expenses
Estimated minimum required expenses for international graduate students at Ohio University are listed below. Expenses reflect the nine-month academic year (September through June). Actual costs may vary according to your program of study and individual needs. All costs are subject to change without notice. The Financial Support Form must reflect the minimum required amount or more per person.

Housing
Most graduate students rent off-campus housing. Limited on-campus housing is also available. Off-campus rent is usually around $1,200/quarter, while on-campus dormitory fees are $1,600-$1,900/quarter.
Foreign Exchange
If possible, ask your bank to wire transfer your fees and maintenance money to Ohio University. Please contact the Office of the Bursar at (740) 593-4130 for specific instructions. Your name and social security number (Ohio University I.D. number) must appear on the wire. After you arrive, you can arrange to have the funds sent directly to you in the same way. If wire transfer is not possible, then ask your bank to issue a check drawn upon a branch bank in the United States.
Orientation
There will be a mandatory orientation program for you within the first few days of the arrival date indicated on the I-20/DS-2019. More information can be found on the ISFS website.
