♦ Completion of MA or MFA degree from accredited American or international university. Master's work may be in historical-critical studies in one of the major art forms or in studio or performance fields. Master's work in any of the Humanities (History, Philosophy, Modern Languages) acceptable.
♦ Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores or the Miller’s Analogies Test (MAT)
♦ Three current letters of recommendation addressing candidate's academic achievement and potential
♦ 3-5 page essay discussing reasons for selecting interdisciplinary work for a graduate degree and statement of philosophical and practical expectations from such study
♦ Intended primary and secondary areas of study
♦ Sample research paper from the applicant's previous work
♦ International students applying for a Graduate Teaching Assistantship must submit scores for Test of Spoken English (TSE) or the SPEAK Test upon arriving to Ohio University. Minimum score of 50 on the TSE or 230 on the SPEAK Test is required to be offered a teaching stipend.

A unique program of study, educating scholars who are grounded in a single discipline and able to view that area through the lens of the other arts. Most graduates return to university teaching, developing interdisciplinary courses in addition to teaching in one of the arts. 90% of graduates have found full-time teaching positions in higher education. Faculty and students have received national and international recognition for their research. The school emphasizes diversity in its curriculum, and is made up of a diverse faculty and student body.
