This program enables students to gain a thorough understanding and appreciation of the culture and history of Ecuador through the art of documentary film making. Students will work in groups to produce short documentaries on various topics related to life in Quito, Ecuador. The documentaries will be screened by local filmmakers, allowing the students to strengthen their documentary storytelling and production skills while deepening their understanding of the region and global perspectives as well as developing their critical viewing skills. Students will also have the opportunity to meet local Ecuadorean documentary filmmakers and take advantage of an optional excursion to the Galapagos Islands.
Applicants must be matriculated OHIO students. Non-OHIO applicants must have successfully completed high school or its equivalent.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis so early application is highly recomended. The application deadline for this program is May 19, 2013.
ALL students must attend 6 orientation sessions during fall semster in order to participate in this program. After being accepted into the program, participants will work with the program director to schedule sessions.
