I am about to graduate from Kent State with my MA in Speech Pathology. I already have a job, I actually had several offers and got to choose where I wanted to work, a fact that I still can't get over. I am taking a position at a Cleveland area nursing home/rehab center as a speech therapist. It's an agency free organization, and in the world of extended care facilities that's a rarely found, but much desired situation. At my new job I will be responsible for helping people with cognitive and communication problems get back to baseline or learn how cope with new deficits. Many of the people I'll be working with have had a stroke or have dementia and as a result they often have difficulty swallowing. It will be my job to keep them eating safely and help physicians decide when there needs to be an alternative means for nutrition.
On a personal note my husband Brian and I still live in our condo in Brunswick.
