My new address is:

I have been here since the middle of February - I took some time to travel around northern Chile and to Peru (to see Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and Lake Titicaca there). I am at the Institute of International Studies at Universidad de Chile getting my Master's in International Studies. My classes just started a week ago - and I must say it is going to be quite a challenge. All of the lectures are in Spanish - fortunately for me 50% of the readings are in English. So my head is spinning at the moment - but every day I understand more. My Spanish is at an intermediate level right now - so it is a challenge to understand what is heard verbally - and it is compounded by the fact that they speak a very bad version of Spanish here in Chile (very fast and they cut off the ends of words with a strange accent). Right now I can usually pick out the main topic of discussion - I just don't catch all of the details. There are 3 other Americans in my class - as well as a Brazilian, a Mexican, a Ukranian, and a Bolivian - the rest are Chilean. My classes this semester are International Law, Political Science, International Relations, and International Economic Relations - all very interesting. I am sure that my time in the GLC will help me along the way, and I already find myself knowing some of the subject matter that we are studying - I would have either learned it in GLC class or in reading in my own spare time - I can't recall at the moment.
Anyways I hope that all is well in Athens - and if any students have interest in doing anything down here - feel free to pass them on to me. I really love it down here - and I know I would never be here if not for the GLC.
