Three highways meet at Athens, Ohio: Route 32 (northeast/southwest), Route 33 (southeast/northwest), Route 50 (east/west).

Approaching From the North
Follow Route 33 south to the intersection of Route 33 and Route 50 at Athens. Follow Route 50 West for ~2 miles to the Richland Avenue Exit. Follow the exit ramp to Richland Avenue, turn right on Richland Avenue, and turn right at the first street (South Green Drive). This passes directly in front of Clippinger Laboratories (see below).

Approaching From the West or East
Follow Route 32 or 50 to Athens. Take the Richland Avenue Exit. Follow the exit ramp to Richland Avenue, turn right on Richland Avenue, and turn right at the first street (South Green Drive). This passes directly in front of Clippinger Laboratories (see below).

Approaching From the South
Follow Route 32 or 33 north to Athens. Take the Richland Avenue Exit. Follow the exit ramp to Richland Avenue, turn right on Richland Avenue, and turn right at the first street (South Green Drive). This passes directly in front of Clippinger Laboratories (see below).

Below is a map of a portion of the Ohio University campus in Athens. The Department of Geological Sciences at Ohio University is located in Clippinger Laboratories, which is building 81 on the map. The Department office is Room 316. The white geometrical forms are parking lots. Upon arrival at campus, visitors should park in the nearest available parking spot. Metered parking spots are nearby, but the Department can provide a temporary parking permit if your trip has been pre-scheduled.

Important Note: Richland Avenue (lower left) is accessible from Route 50/32 (Exit 17), which is a major east-west artery. You should utilize Route 50 to access Richland Avenue and the Ohio University campus regardless of the direction you are approaching Athens. Route 33 is the other major road passing through Athens and crosses Route 50.
