The Institute
The Forensic Science Institute of Ohio (FSIO) was incorporated on August 18, 1992, by a group of Ohio Crime Laboratory Directors and educators to promote education and research in the forensic sciences. FSIO is a non-profit organization. None of its officers receive monetary compensation for their efforts.
Purposes of the Institute
The purposes of this Institute shall be to promote education and research in the forensic sciences:
- To provide continuing education for the Ohio Crime Laboratory Personnel.
- To provide standards of courses of study for undergraduate students leading to forensic science careers.
- To promote the development of graduate education programs leading to degrees in forensic science.
- To encourage the closer cooperation and interchange of ideas among the members of the law enforcement community with regard to the use of scientific methods for the prevention, detection, and solution of crime.
