What meal plans do you offer?

Culinary Services offers Traditional and Flex Meal Plans. Nearly 60% of our students choose a Flex Meal Plan.

The Flex 20 and Flex 14 meal plans offer $450 in Flex Points (good for the entire school year) in addition to 20 or 14 meals per week that can be used in any dining hall, grab n go, or market.  Meals are worth $6.25 in the markets.  The Flex Points are accepted at West 82 Food Court, The Front Room Coffeehouse, Latitude 39 Casual Dining, Café BiblioTech, South Side Espresso Bar, OU-HCOM-SAF Café, McCracken's Fresh Take, Steam Station Café and all Dining Courts/Halls and all Grab N Go's.  They are not accepted within any Campus Market, in vending machines, laundry centers or for gift card purchases. All Flex Points will expire on the last day of the school year.  Additional Flex Points may be purchased via the Destination Dining Meal Plan.  Flex Points are non-refundable. 

The Traditional Meal Plan offers 20 or 14 weekly meals that may be used in any of our three Dining Courts/Halls or two Grab N Go's.

How do the meal plans work?

The meal plan week begins Sunday and ends at midnight on Saturday.  Any unused meals left as of midnight on Saturday are lost and are not refundable.  

Meal plans are priced with the assumption that students will not use all of their meals.  Meals are only available for use by the cardholder. Students may increase their meal plan at anytime.  Meal plans may be decreased up until the start of school.  

Once the school year begins, students may not decrease their meal plan.  All meal plan changes are made on line at the housing website www.ohio.edu/housing and clicking on the MyHousing link.

When does the meal plan begin?

All meal plans will begin with lunch before the first day of classes. Parents are welcome to have a meal with their student. Parents and students also have the option to dine at West 82 Food Court in Baker University Center by using  Flex Points, Bobcat Cash, credit/debit cards or cash.

What is the difference between a Flex Meal Plan and a Traditional Meal Plan?

Flex Meal Plans may be used at Boyd, Jefferson, or Nelson Markets in addition to all Dining Courts/Halls and Grab N Go's. Each meal is worth $6.25 of product in the Campus Markets. Flex Meal Plans also provide $450 Flex Points that are good for the entire school year and may be used at West 82 Food Court, Latitude 39 Casual Dining, Front Room Coffeehouse, OU-HCOM SAF Café, Southside Espresso Bar, Café BiblioTech, McCracken's Fresh Take and Steam Station Café. Students with Flex Meal Plans may also bring guests with them to any Dining Court/Hall.

What is the Destination Dining plan?

The Destination Dining Plan offers $450 in Flex Points for $419 and is open to any student who is already on a meal plan or students who have met the residence requirement and/or been exempted from their housing and dining contracts living off campus. Flex Points on the Destination Dining plan are valid for the entire school year. The Destination Dining Plan is accepted at West 82, Front Room, Latitude 39, Café BiblioTech, OU-HCOM-SAF Café, South Side Espresso Bar, all Dining Courts/Halls and all Grab N Go's.  It will not be accepted at any Campus Market, in vending machines, laundry centers or for gift card purchases. Flex Points are non-refundable.

Can students use their meal plan in Baker University Center?

Flex Meal Plans and Destination Dining Plans may be used at West 82 Food Court, Latitude 39 Casual Dining and The Front Room Coffeehouse within Baker University Center. We encourage students who do not have a Flex Meal Plan to consider upgrading or purchasing a Destination Dining plan in order to supplement a Traditional Meal Plan.

My student has a food allergy or special diet need. How do you accommodate this?

We provide meals for numerous special diets; in fact, Culinary Services utilizes its own gluten-free kitchen area to further assist those on campus with special diets needs. Have your student contact Rosanna Nelson at 740.597.2170 (nelsonr@ohio.edu). She will work with them and make certain that their needs are met. Please have your student bring any diet prescription from his/her physician or dietitian.

My student has class every day from 10-2pm. How will they get lunch?

We offer three options: Shively Court is open until 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday for lunch. Another option is to see a manager in any dining hall and sign up for a sack lunch which can be picked up in the morning before his/her first class.  Another option is to use any of the two Grab N Go's - they are all open after 2:00 p.m.

What can students get in a Grab N Go?

Culinary Services' Grab N Go venues provide a fantastic option for students looking to eat a meal on the go; they also offer a variety of food options!
  • Boyd Grab N Go - Students receive one entrée, two sides, a beverage and a piece of fruit.
  • Shively Grab N Go- Students receive a sub sandwich, beverage, fruit or chips, and a cookie.

My student has class from 4-8pm. How will they get dinner?

All meal plans have the following late night options:  Shively Court is open until Monday-Thursday until 8:30 p.m., Boyd Grab N Go is open Monday-Thursday until 9:00 p.m. and Shively Grab n Go is open Monday-Thursday until 10:00 p.m. Each Dining Court also offers "To-Go" options for students needing a quick meal on-the-go during regular operational hours!

What are the 34 meal periods?

Only one meal may be used during any of these time periods if holding the traditional 10, 14 and 20 meal plans. Flex 14 and Flex 20 meal plans may use more than one meal during any meal period.

  • PERIOD 1: Breakfast: Mon-Fri. (Hot Breakfast) 7:00am - 9:15am or (Continental) 9:15am – 10:30am (Only one meal permitted between 7:00am and 10:30am)
  • Breakfast: Saturday 8:30am – 10:00am
  • PERIOD 2: Lunch: Mon-Sat. 11:00am – 1:30pm
  • PERIOD 2: (Sunday Only): Brunch Sunday 11:00am – 2:00pm
  • PERIOD 3: Late Lunch: Mon-Sat 1:30pm – 4:00pm (Grab n Go's - Monday-Friday)
  • PERIOD 4: Dinner: Sun-Sat 4:00pm – 7:00pm
  • PERIOD 5: Late Dinner: Sun-Thurs 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Nelson Court Sun-Sat 7:00-8:00 pm; Shively Court Mon-Thu 7:00-8:30 pm; Boyd Grab n Go - Mon-Thu 7:00-9:00 pm; Shively Grab n Go Mon-Thu 7:00-10:00 p.m.)

What are the Block 30, Block 15 plus, and Flex Block 45 meal plans?

Block 30- Open to all students who have met the residence requirement or students exempted from their housing and dining contracts living off campus.  The block plan is any 30 meals that may be used in any of our three dining halls and two Grab N Go’s.  The 30 meals are valid from the first day of the semester and expire on the last day of the semester.  Students and staff members may bring as many guests as they have meals. 


Block 15 Plus- Open to all students who have met the residence requirement or students exempted from their housing and dining contracts living off campus. This meal plan offers 15 meals per semester in any dining hall or Grab 'N Go, plus $150 in Bobcat Cash.  The 15 meals are valid from the first day of the semester and expire on the last day of the semester. Students and staff members may bring as many guests as they have meals. Any unused Bobcat Cash will carry over to the next semester.

 

Flex Block 45- Students who have met the residence requirement or students exempted from their housing and dining contracts living off campus may purchase a Flex Block 45 meal plan. The Flex Block 45 meal plan is any 45 meals that may be used in any of our Dining Courts/Halls and Grab N Go's (meals may not be used in the markets) plus 150 Flex Points. The 45 meals and 150 Points are valid from the first day of the semester and expire on the last day of the semester. Students and staff members may bring as many guests as they have meals.  Flex points are accepted at West 82, The Front Room Coffeehouse, Latitude 39 Casual Dining, Cafe BiblioTech, OU-HCOM-SAF Cafe, Southside Espresso Bar, all Dining Courts/Halls and all Grab N Go's. Flex points will not be accepted within the Campus Markets, vending machines or laundry centers. One Flex point equals $1.00.

What food concepts are available at West 82 (Food Court) at Baker University Center? 

  • The College Greens- Salad/Soup Bar

  • Fast Lane- Grab N Go Area

  • The Brick Oven- Pizza, Calzones, and Italian

  • Ivy Deli- New York Style Deli

  • Verde Blanco- Southwest/Mexican similar to a Chipotle

  • The Burger Bar- ½ lb Angus burgers, veggie burgers and more

  • The Sandwich Stand - Made-to-order sandwiches and combo items

  • Meridian - International food items from across the globe

  • The Breakfast Bar - Available Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

How do I change my meal plan?

  1. Visit www.ohio.edu/housing
  2. Click on "Apply-Online"
  3. Enter your OHIO ID and password
  4. Select the "New Student or Returning Student Contract" for the appropriate quarter. Please Note: you will only need to complete one contract per academic year as meal plans will carry over from semester to semester.
  5. Select your desired meal plan.
  6. Your meal plan total will be added to your University bill.

*Meal Plan upgrades are available at anytime; however, Meal Plan downgrades must be completed before the beginning of the academic year.

What is Bobcat Cash?

Bobcat Cash is a pre-paid debit card — money you've put on account — that can be used at a variety of locations on campus.

Bobcat Cash is a way for students, faculty and staff to access products and services on campus without carrying cash.

You pre-pay a minimum balance of $50 and just use your university ID card in dining halls, markets, vending machines, main laundry centers, and Baker University Center. You can add more money to your account as needed. Additional funds placed on the card will take between 1-2 business days to apply.

Unlike cash, Bobcat Cash can only be spent on limited things in limited places on campus — you'll be better able to see where your money is going. Bobcat Cash cannot be used at off-campus locations and does not allow cash withdraws. Bobcat Cash carries over semester to semester, year to year and is refundable at any time after a $20 service charge.
