OhioBrass


OhioBrass is the in-residence faculty brass quintet at Ohio University. Comprised of the brass faculty and one graduate trumpet student, the ensemble performs throughout the region. Ohio University's brass faculty provides comprehensive study through private instruction, large and small ensemble experiences, chamber music, pedagogy and literature courses, and master classes on trumpet, horn, euphonium, trombone, and tuba. Brass chamber music opportunities include Trumpet Ensemble, Horn Ensemble, Trombone Choir, and Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and graduate and undergraduate brass quintets.




Brass Audition Information


Undergraduate Brass Audition Requirements

  • At least one solo of major length.  
  • Solo movements and/or etudes contrasting in tempo and style are desirable. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of scales and arpeggios.  
  • Advanced solos from state solo and ensemble contest lists are suggested. 
  • Sight reading and/or aural discrimination skills may also be assessed during your audition.
