Born and raised in Virginia, Sarah took an interest in film early in life. Before, during, and after a stint in art school, Sarah spent roughly twelve years as a punk/DIY organizer in Richmond, VA. She organized music, literary, and art shows; a zine and music distribution service; creative feminist collectives, film screenings, and was the co-creator of the Richmond Zine Fest, a small/independent publishing festival that she co-organized through 2009. Between all this, working at two Richmond-based universities, and receiving a BA in English; she sporadically published a film zine from 2004-2007 and has been keeping a film blog sporadically since 2007.

Sarah's main interests in film are Pre-Production Code Hollywood cinema, North American and European horror and exploitation films, American independent cinema, 1970s cinema, film adaptations, female directors, film preservation, and gender and other socio-political issues surrounding horror films.
