Mickie Geller was a New York City based choreographer, performer, and teacher from 1971-1983. While there, Geller presented concerts of her work at Dance Theater Workshop and Space Place and had many pieces produced in DTW's Choreographers' Showcases, La Mama, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Eden's Expressway and Larry Richardson's Dance Gallery.In addition to performing in her own works, Geller has danced in the companies of Tina Croll, Jack Moore, Art Bauman, Rosalind Newman, Pat Catterson, and others, both in NYC and on tour.She taught dance at Pratt Institute for eleven years and was the chair of the dance department there for three years. Since relocating to Ohio in 1983, she has continued to choreograph, perform, and teach in a variety of venues such as: Japan (Tokyo and Oiso); Finland (Viitasaari and Turku); Spain (Madrid); New York City (Merce Cunningham Studio, Movement Research at the Judson Church); Ohio (TAPS/Columbus, Cleveland Performance Art Festival); Washington, DC (Dance Place, American College Dance Festival/Kennedy Center), Madison, WI (World Dance Alliance), North Carolina (North Carolina Dance Festival, Charlotte Dance Festival); South Carolina (Winthrop University).Geller has received three Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships in Choreography and an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award.
