Marina Gobins Walchli

Professor Emeritus of Dance: Kinesiology, Pilates, Dance Videography

Marina Walchli served as the Director of HTC Dance Studies from 1997-2012 at Ohio University.  She is a PMA™ certified Pilates trainer and has maintained a private practice in Pilates conditioning since 1996.  Prior to joining the  Dance faculty in 1987, Ms. Walchli was on the dance faculty at Hobart andWilliam Smith Colleges from 1981-86.  Ms. Walchli has worked as a free-lance performer and choreographer and has taught at numerous colleges and universities on the East Coast.  Her choreography was presented at Dance Place, Washington, D.C., National Choreography Series IV at the Dance Center/Columbia College, Chicago, IL, Spring Street Studio, New York, NY, in Tokyo, Japan, and in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. She has performed with the Bailey-Newcomb Dance Company, Deborah Riley Dance Projects and Five Minds Dance Company.  She is the recipient of two Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships and her choreography has been showcased at the OhioDance Festival. Ms. Walchli teaches modern and ballet technique, dance composition, anatomy and kinesiology for dance, Pilates and dance videography.

Educational Background:

Marina Gobins Walchli received a B.F.A. in Dance (1977) and an M.F.A. in Dance, Human Physiology and Special Education (1981) from Ohio University
