Connaught is a nice Irish-Catholic girl from the Midwest, and grew up in a large, lower- middle class family. After high school, a business degree from a community college seemed like a good idea because she did not know what she wanted to be when she grew up, but she reasoned if she ever did find out what she wanted to do with her life, business knowledge would be beneficial. Upon graduation from said community college she went to work in a local factory and worked there for thirty years.
Enrolling in the photography program at the School of Art at BGSU in 1993, Connaught acquired knowledge and ability in a variety of media. In particular, painting engaged her senses, her spirit, and her creativity. She responded to the immediacy, the colors, the textures, and even the smell of paint. With the enthusiastic support and encouragement of her first painting professor, she shifted her major to painting.
Since graduating from BGSU in 2000, Connaught has participated in several group exhibitions in Toledo area galleries and numerous juried art fairs in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. She has had gallery representation at Space 237 in Toledo, Ohio, Pieces in Highland Park, Illinois and Split Winds Gallery in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was the Fine Arts instructor at Terra Community College from 2003- 2012, teaching Foundation classes plus Figure drawing, Beginning Painting, Watercolor and Mixed Media. She received a MA-Studio from Eastern Michigan University in 2011.
