MFA-Sculpture + Expanded Practice 2013, Art

Maxwell graduated from Carroll University in Waukesha, WI with a major in art and a minor in secondary education. Through that experience, Maxwell was a part of the greater Milwaukee area’s art scene along with teaching art at the middle and high school levels. At his time at Carroll University, Maxwell received both the Waukesha Art Festival Scholarship for Art Excellence along with the Excellence in Education for Pre-Adolescence and Secondary Education. From his time at Carroll University, Maxwell accepted an offer to study and pursue his Master of Fine Arts degree and Ohio University under the advisory of Professor Duane McDiarmid.  During his time at Ohio University, Carroll University and several years before, Maxwell took part in writing and performing in several rock bands, spanning several genres including punk rock, alternative rock, and heavy metal. Those particular experiences are continuing to influence Maxwell’s art practice.  Through research and experiment, Maxwell’s research focuses on the connections and merging of fine art and music.
