Student Health Insurance
Domestic Students (Athens Campus)
Major medical insurance coverage is mandatory for all Athens campus students. Domestic students enrolled for seven or more credit hours on the Athens campus will automatically be enrolled in and billed for a policy offered by Ohio University. Students who do not wish to purchase the policy offered by Ohio University can decline it by providing information which documents comparable coverage. Students registered for fewer hours and who need health insurance should contact Campus Care. For additional information on the insurance plan, visit UnitedHealthCare and select Ohio University.
Ohio University assesses the health insurance premium for domestic Athens campus students on a quarterly basis. The premium of $429.00 is added to your account if you are currently registered for at least seven (7) credit hours on the Athens campus. The annual coverage period is from September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012 if you have the health insurance premium on your account for the fall, winter and spring quarters.
If you are eligible to waive the Student Health Insurance, the waiver option will be available on your My OHIO Student Center once your registration charges have been assessed for the term. A waiver is required only once each academic year.'
Regional campus students have a separate, optional plan designed for commuting students that requires enrollment in nine or more hours to be eligible. Please contact your regional campus student services office for enrollment information.
