Student Health Insurance

Domestic Students (Athens Campus)
Major medical insurance coverage is mandatory for all Athens campus students. Domestic students enrolled for five or more credit hours on the Athens campus will automatically be enrolled in and billed for a policy offered by Ohio University. Students who do not wish to purchase the policy offered by Ohio University can decline it by providing information which documents comparable coverage.  For additional information on the insurance plan, visit UnitedHealthCare and select Ohio University.

Ohio University assesses the health insurance premium for domestic Athens campus student each semester. The premium of $677.00 is added to your account each semester if you are registered for at least five (5) credit hours on the Athens campus. The annual coverage period is from August 16, 2012 to August 15, 2013 if you have the health insurance premium on your account for the fall and spring semesters.

If you are eligible to waive the Student Health Insurance, the waiver option will be available on your My OHIO Student Center once your registration charges have been assessed for the term.  A waiver is required only once each academic year.'
