The Ursula and Gilbert Farfel Prize for Excellence in Investigative Reporting This national investigative journalism award, made possible by a generous gift from Ursula and Dr. Gilbert Farfel to the Ohio University Foundation, recognizes major substantive reporting, by a journalist or team of journalists, that covers stories intelligently and completely and that raises public consciousness.
“Investigative journalists do an important job, bringing to light things that we wouldn’t know.” says Ursula Farfel. “I admire their courage and tenacity.”
In addition to receiving a cash award of $25,000, the journalist (or team of journalists) receiving the prize will be invited to serve as a visiting professional(s) in the Scripps College of Communication and to hold a public lecture to discuss the prize-winning project.
