Goal for 2016

In order to reach our goal of recycling 80% of waste generated at Ohio University by 2016, we need to increase mixed recycling by 1,000 tons.

Past Achievements of 2013-2014

Our percentage of recycled materials, composted materials, and tons of waste diverted have all increased. The percentage for landfill change has also decresed. Here are some of the figures:

  • 2685.206 tons of recycled material (25.159% increase)
  • 747.755 tons of composted materials (3.584% increase)
  • 3432.961 tons of diverted materials (19.728% increase)
  • -8.692% decrease in annual landfill materials

Total Improvements form 2012 to 2014

Our percentage of recycled materials, composted materials, and tons of waste diverted have all greatly increased from the baseline of 2012. The percentage for landfill change has also decresed significantly as well. Here are some of the figures:

  • 13.789% increase of recycled material
  • 50.408% increase of composted materials
  • 15.263% increase of diverted materials
  • -17.460% decrease in total (2012-2014) landfill materials
