2006 Campus Master Plan
In December of 2006, Ohio University brought to closure a comprehensive campus master planning effort. This effort exists as a master planning tool kit to guide the university in translating its strategic goals and objectives into a physical plan that identifies where the university is focusing its resources to meet present and future demands on facilities.
This master planning tool kit is compromised of four integral parts. The first is Vision Ohio: Master Planning Report, which is a comprehensive guide to envisioning change at Ohio University through data driven recommendations. Vision Ohio includes dialogue about transportation and parking, utilities and infrastructure, sustainability, the campus greens and many other aspects of Ohio University that require strategic planning in order to transform the university into a more powerful, successful, higher education enterprise.
The Space Utilization Management Study, or SUMS, is the next tool in the master planning tool kit. This study verifies space needs of current departmental usage and extrapolates from this data future space needs based on the strategic plans outlined in Vision Ohio.
The 2010 Housing Master Plan Update is an assessment of current student housing and future student housing needs on campus, along with a detailed program budget and financial plan. This is an update of the 2006 Housing Master Plan.
The Off-Campus Capacity Analysis provides the university and City of Athens with a tool to determine the level of housing development needed to meet Ohio University's enrollment targets. As well, determining the effects of on-campus housing developments and enrollment growth on the City's housing stock.
The Utilities Report (Section1 and Section 2)is an assessment of utility infrastructure and the existing capacity and condition of each utility service.
The lead consultant for the campus master planning effort was the architectural and planning firm NBBJ, of Columbus Ohio.
