Information about withdrawing from classes
Withdrawing from classes. Sometimes it becomes necessary for a student with a disability to withdraw from a class or from all classes. It is important to be aware of the dates and procedures the university has in place. You must formally petition the Assistant Dean of student services in your college, i.e., Arts and Sciences, Education, Business, etc.
Withdrawing for Medical Reasons. In the event of serious physical or mental illness, you may arrange for a medical withdrawal through the day before the last day of classes. Contact the medical director of the Student Health Service or the director of Counseling and Psychological Services. The director will make a written recommendation to your academic dean for a medical withdrawal. Your withdrawal will be effective on the date you sought treatment or the last date you attended classes. If you were treated by an outside physician who has recommended a medical withdrawal, that recommendation must be sent to the medical director of the Student Health Service.
