Outstanding Senior Leadership Awards Criteria

The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding student leaders in each department of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology for activities on or off the campus. This may include leadership in the department, college, or university student organizations, community service, or activities associated with coop or intern work assignments.

Criteria

  1. At the time of the award (i.e., spring quarter) the student must hold Senior rank in his/her dept. major or have graduated during the current academic year.

  2. Student must be in good academic standing in the department, college, & university.

  3. Student must not be on any university, college, or dept. probation at the time of the award.

  4. Student must have exemplary character and have the confidence and trust of fellow students and the faculty.

Procedures

  1. The RLI Department Advisory Board member will be responsible for soliciting, assembling, and screening all nominations for this award and for following through on these procedures.

  2. Nominations may be by both students & faculty in the Department.

  3. Each nomination will require a brief statement of the reasons for the nomination and why the student should be recognized for his/her leadership.

  4. For the final selection strong student input on all nominees shall be sought before final selection is approved by the departmental faculty. As stated in item 1 above, the Dept. Advisory Board member shall solicit, assemble, and screen all nominations to ensure the criteria and procedures of the award are faithfully followed before presenting his/her recommendation and supporting materials to the departmental faculty for final approval.

  5. This procedure shall be completed no later than April 11th so that there is time to make the selection for the Gerald Loehr Senior Leadership Award and that the necessary award checks and certificates may be prepared for the awardees for presentation at the Annual Spring Student Banquet in May.

  6. The Director or Associate Director of the Robe Leadership Institute will present the awards.
